Development of models and modelling algorithms

study of atmospheric dispersion in the Local Scale:

  • Operational Street Pollution Model (in cooperation with Aarhus University, DK)
  • Prognostic wind flow models in urban terrains
  • Emission inventorying
  • Data assimilation for inverse modelling
  • Processes optimization

These in house models are combined and/ or supported with a number of other propiertary or open models in order to study specific aspects of atmospheric modeling to enhance and build new scientific knowledge:

  • EPA-US modeling systems (AERMOD, CALPUFF)
  • commercial Computational Fluid Dynamics packages (CFX, Fluent)

Air Quality Monitoring

Though monitoring is not the main focus of AQERT, the need of high quality and numerous datasets for model evaluation and assessment studies for both research and services provision has lead to:

  • Study and development of passive samplers for Particulate Matter
  • Deployment of own monitoring stations for periodic and extended campaigns
